Soul-Jazz & Boogaloo
| | 1. | | Midnight Blue by Kenny Burrell Price: $8.97
Customer Review:
For the coolest of late night straight ahead "classic" jazz trio and combo grooves... this is the CD to grab immediately! Every cut and cat on this disc has something to say and I can't get enough! No wonder Stevie Ray Vaughan dug Kenny! Kick back and listen up! This is one of my all time favorites!

| | 3. | | The Sidewinder by Lee Morgan Price: $8.97
Customer Review:
This is another one of those recordings that I picked up on a whim only because it was recommended by The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings: Eighth Edition (Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings). One listen and I was hooked like a dolphin in a tuna net. If your foot doesn't start tapping the minute the... more info

| | 4. | | Let's Go Everywhere (Dig) by Martin & Wood Medeski Price: $16.98
Customer Review:
I have read other reviews that say this CD is fun for parents and kids alike. I cannot agree more. My husband and I love that when it is still in the CD player in the car and we are out on our own we don't feel compelled to change to something else. I got the CD based on my 15 month old son's... more info

| | 5. | | Song for My Father by Horace Silver Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
I originally purchased this album in 1964. It was one of my favorites then and it still is. Silver's hard charging jazz is a benchmark piece for this period. Excellent solo work by Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook are excellent.
I feel that this is a "must have" album for fans of jazz in the 50's... more info

| | 7. | | The Mix-Up by Beastie Boys Price: $9.99
Customer Review:
If you are like me and love the 80's and 90's Beastie Boys, then read carefully. This is not a traditional release for them. It's instrumental - no vocals. It's cool, mind you, just not what you would expect. The Gala Event is a cool track.

| | 8. | [no image] | You Send Me by Roy Ayers Price: $10.99
Customer Review:
It's about time somebody started waking up and releasing some good old school r&b on cd. This is if not one of Roy's best recordings since his inception into the music business. I personally like his version of "You Send Me" better than Sam Cooke's version. Roy adds more jazzy flavor to it,... more info

| | 9. | | Know What I Mean? by Cannonball Adderley Price: $10.99
Customer Review:
This is, as far as I know, the final recorded meeting of Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans, the warmest and the coolest of the Kind of Blue alumni. To throw another quirk into the mix, they're backed by the light and precise tandem of Percy Heath and Connie Kay, making a guest appearance away from... more info
